Kickball Standings, For Your Amusement

I knew last Sunday wouldn't go absolutely as planned, but what was impromptu was good: Straggler Games Trumped the All-Stars. Perhaps the bands stole the limelight from our best players, but in the end, everyone had a blast, and we did while basically playing pick-up games. Is straggling better than team play? I think most people would say yes, and I love my Orangesleeves. Something about straggling is more chaotic and romantic.

So, to all the regulars at "KickStock" (copyright, 2005, Jews Carstensen), ask yourself, was there a better week at Kickball, ever? I guess my favorite night was when the Sleeves won the Finals, but that was dependant upon our winning, and I'm sure my win wouldn't have felt as good as if I weren't a Sleeve or a fan of us. July 10, 2005 is the way Kickball should go every week, but the Parks Department and the Cops won't let us have weekly amplification, especially bands, and, well, players sure do love their teams. But to all the teams, I ask for you to always invite stragglers to come and join us somehow, be they on your team, or be a whole teamful against you. Straggling is the most underrated factor is the growth and beauty of this league. I am a straggler. I straggled onto the Sleeves, as did the vast majority of it. One day it hits you: all these people just came outta nowhere and now i never want them to leave.

Be Open, Be Free.
