Before the Grand Announcement, we have another great highlight reel of last week's wacky and horrific goingson, courtesy of B.A. Be patient, as the movie is 9 megs or so. Also, here is a very comprehensive photo chronicle, courtesy of the orphans.

succumb to the weather's glide
towards summer solstice,
seize courage and beauty
from the evening's alluring twilight,
and let the moon guide you 'round third,
briskly, but gently, into home.

A flyer makes it official. Saturday Night, June 5th, at the Mark Bar. We request the honor of anyone that ever loved any love song ever, be it Sinatra, Otis Redding or Steve Perry. But be ready to groove to the likes of Biggy, Prince, Beyonce, Mary Jane Girls, MJ, Sir-Mix-Alot, and of host of others you're too cool to admit to liking, for now.

Great night, last night was.

Before I get into last night, and how the game's evolving, let me announce:

First Annual Kick "Ball", Saturday Night, June 5th, at the Mark Bar, in Greenpoint. Dress up, and treat your date right. Be suave. Don't be afraid to mack it out. The Orangesleeves may have orange corsages, but that's as far as team pride should go. This is a light-hearted, old-timey, prommy-like evening. It's 10 bucks a head, with an open bar for an hour, i believe from 10-11. But the night should start around 9.

Guys, this is going to be a special night. We'll get together, drank, dance, whisper some sweet trash into our rivals' ears, perhaps get some gambling going on for the next day's affair. There will be DJing. We are open to any suggestions to make this a perfect night. I'd like to thank Tommy from The Orphans for consenting to have this fine event at his joint.

But don't confuse this night with the end-of-the-season gala, date and time to be determined.

let's see, how many teams do we have? There's the Orphans, Los Piratos, The Orangesleeves, The Cobras, Cassius Clay, The Head-Hunters, and The Ring of Fire, with at least 2 other teams looking to organize. So, now, it seems like i must get three games going simultaneously. The 2 Outfield games will be the relegation scene, with everyone working their way onto the main field.

more solutions: jensy wants to schedule games, and that's certainly a good idea. however, i always liked first-come, first-served. I'm thinking that the first 2 teams to show will play on the main field, the next two will be on field, and then the next 2 will play on field c. field b will be right field, and field c is in left. from there, the winner at field c advances to b, and the winner from field b advances to the main field. logically, a field b loser goes down to c, and the loser from field c stays put.

or we could schedule. the problem with scheduling is this: teams can be tardy, and some teams think they're more important than others. of course, the latter problem is resolved by placing teams in the appropriate field, based on their success from last week.

for instance, the orangesleeves and cassius clay both went 2-0 last night. they would play the first game in the main field. the orphans and the head-hunters went 1-1, so they're on field b. los piratos lost their only game and the cobras went 0-2, so they're on field c.

let's make some hypothetical results:

orangesleeves over cassius clay, orphans over the head-hunters, and los piratos over the cobras. the next round would be:

main field: orangesleeves vs. the orphans. field b: piratos vs. cassius clay. field c: head-hunters vs a newcomer. but should a newcomer start on field c? should diplomacy dictate that they get a shot at the main field, or should they have to work their way up? and how many games in a row can/should a team play, especially on the main field? should the main field be like a pool table and the winner just stays, or should i employ a 2 game limit, and they have to sit out one game? but then who and where do they play once they return? fuck it, i think if a team wins on the main field, they stay until dethroned. plus i like the relegation/incentive system. newcomers should work their way onto the main field from field c, thus satisfying any sense of entitlement from the "older" more established teams. To the Newcomers, you only need one week not to be new anymore.

Everyone feel free to comment on this proposed system.

Last night was good. I just gotta figure out how to play.

peace.
