I have not worried about the weather since those first couple weeks back in April, but this weekend looks bad. To both the O'Sleeves and the Pirates: we must start thinking of a rain-date, just in case. We can't have it the following Sunday, as we are all attending BA's old-timey Birthday Party back in her childhood home in Long Island. So, to everyone on those teams, chime in and let us know what would be a good date. At the very least, we'll probably be playing in a swamp. I'm calling the Parks Department to see if we can get some machinery out on the field prior to the Finals.
There has been alotta chatter on the Orphans Forum, which pleases me. Hasn't been this much smack talk since June. I guarantee a great final battle to end the War. Nagasaki will look like a spit-ball contest by the time we're done. (damn, did i just say that? I mean, I'm on the side of "The USA should have never dropped the Bomb, and there's a special place in Hell for Harry Truman", but that's a whole long debate for later). The trophies are ready to go, and when we win, I guess I'll have to present it to myself...nah, I'll present to it Jesse Ballgame, our Captain. Sadly, Coach Jens won't be here this final weekend.
To the Orphans and The Daggers: have a good battle for Bronze, the trophy is AWESOME. To the Pirates, i say, go fuck yourselves, you're walkin' the plank, your ship's been commandeered and given back to the Queen...you're dead.

Let's see, where to start....Last weekend's "semis" were phenomenal. That's the way we should have it every week. Definitely, I am annoyed at everyone, except a few, for not paying dues. Jens and I jumped through many a hoop to make that night happen, and we're not asking for much. To those of you wondering if we're actually making money off of kickball, I say this: even if we were, so fucking what? Do u ask the bartender at the Turkey's Nest if he's just in for the fun? But we're not. There is a lot of BS involved with this, and asking for $32 a team is peanuts. This goes for every team, including my own. I do feel slighted when people are willing to spend all kinds of money at the after-parties and don't pay the simple dues.
We have a a present and a future to consider. We must provide trophies this weekend, have the Kickies in 2 weeks, field an All-Star team in a month, and try to expand the league for next season. So I hate to sound like USA for Africa, but asking for less than 3 dollars a player a night is chicken-shit. So pay it, and like I said over the PA at the end of Sunday's affair, "You
Pay Now!"

I'm not saying Sunday wasn't a Hoot. Again, we want to do this every week. To my knowledge, there were no problems with the Police or the Parks department, and we will try to make Music and Amplification the norm for next season. But we can't do it unless we're truly a community. Like, the way everyone cleaned up their trash at the end was communal. I'm not asking everyone to go and turn Pinko-Commie, I just want everyone to pull their weight.
As for the finals....
People are talking about this one....O'Sleeves-Pirates. I got people emailing me and telling me at the Nest, "Yo Commish, you must win that game. Gotta win it." Some have said Good Vs. Evil. I have to admit from a Commish's and a Orangesleeves Coach/Player's perspective, these Finals make the Nielsons happy. We've got cuties, irreverence, bad-blood, and kitty-litter adorning
swords. Actually, I have grown to like many of the Pirates, even wanna fuck a couple of them. Of course, my fun will be maximized if I do. But this is a WAR now, and I expect all kinds of crap. But I do not expect violence of any kind, so I am putting both sides on notice: I've got my ejection thumb ready to go.
